This writ petition is filed seeking for a mandamus directing the respondent to grant minority status to the Educational Institution of

the petitioner Trust.

2. After 13 years, the matter is now listed for final disposal. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the respondent has not considered the request so far.

3. Considering the fact that the very application itself was made as early as on 24.11.2004 and by now 13 years have lapsed, I do not think that there will be any useful purpose in directing the respondent to consider such application and pass orders. Needless to say that the petitioner has to satisfy the mandatory requirement as per law as exists today and consequently, they have to make a fresh application before the respondent seeking for minority status, if the petitioner trust wishes to get such status. Therefore, it is for the petitioner to make a fresh application before the respondent.

4. With the above observation and without expressing any view on the claim made by the petitioner with regard to the minority status, this writ petition is closed. No costs.
