The Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction to the 2nd respondent, Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation to consider a representation of the petitioner dated 16.08.2024 and pass necessary orders on the same. The petitioner is Anna Sirukkadai Vyabarigal Pothunala Sangam and is represented by its President.
2.In the affidavit it had been stated that the petitioner Sangam had been registered in the year 2000. It had been formed with object to protect the rights of petty traders on the pavements alongside Narayanappa Road in Chennai 600
108. There was a threat of removal of the petty traders. It is stated that the petitioner had given a representation on 16.08.2024 protesting against the same and seeking allotment of Shops to the members of the petitioner Sangam. The 2 / 5
respondents have forwarded instructions wherein details have been stated that out of 20 members, 15 members had been allotted Shops. Out of the 15, 5 members have been allotted Shops at South Mint Street and 10 members had been allotted Shops at Walltax Road.
3.The learned Standing Counsel stated that the remaining 5 members will be similarly allotted Shops at appropriate place within a period of two weeks. Recording that particular statement, since the grievance raised by the petitioner had been redressed, the Writ Petition stands disposed of.
