ORDER
The writ petition is filed seeking a direction to the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioners dated 06.03.2024 seeking allotment of free houses out of the ready built house at Murugamangalam near Vandalur, Chengalpet District.
2. It is the case of the petitioners that they were affected by the eviction proceedings initiated by the third respondent. The petitioners are not having any shelter of their own and they are stated to be living in the rental houses. Therefore, they submitted a representation before the first respondent on 06.03.2024 seeking allotment of free houses, out of the ready built houses availed at Murugamangalam village near Vandalur, Chengalpet District, belonging to the third respondent. The copy of the representation submitted to the first respondent also submitted before the third respondent.
3. Mr.V.Jeevagiridharan, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents 1 and 2 and Ms.K.Indhumathy Venkatesh, learned Standing Counsel takes notice for the third respondent.
4. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the third respondent would submit that as per the present scheme, the request of the petitioner for allotment of free houses cannot be considered.
5. The petitioners were vacated from the promboke properties, which was in their occupation, to enable the third respondent to construct houses for the poor people. The petitioners submitted representation before the third respondent for allotment of free houses. Therefore, without expressing any opinion on the entitlement of the petitioners to seek allotment of free houses, this court is inclined to direct the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioners and pass final orders on its own merits, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of copy of the order and communicate the same to the petitioner.
6. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
