Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of mandamus to direct the respondents to complete the process of delimitation of wards which are to be reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes and Women in every local body in the State of Tamil Naddu, by strictly adhering the procedure contemplated under the Tamil Nadu Delimitation Commission Act, 2017 and Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act, 1994 within the time stipulated by this Court and thereafter issue election notification to conduct Local Body Elections in the State. ORDER

(1)The present writ petition has been filed seeking for issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the respondents to complete the process of delimitation of wards which are to be reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes and Women in every local body in the State of Tamil Nadu, by strictly adhering the procedure contemplated under the Tamil Nadu Delimitation Commission Act, 2017 and Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act, 1994 within the time stipulated by this Court and thereafter issue election notification to conduct Local Body Elections in the State. (2)Mr.J.Ravindran, learned Additional Advocate General accepts notice on behalf of respondents 1, 2, 5 to 7 and Mr.P.R.Raman, learned Senior counsel accepts notice on behalf of respondents 3 and 4. (3)The learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the State and the learned Standing counsel appearing for the State Election Commission has given an undertaking that without completion of delimitation and the process required for announcing reservations, the election will not be notified.

(4)Recording the said undertaking, the writ petition is closed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
