The prayer sought for herein is for a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's application dated 28.11.2024 made for grant of permission / certificate of vending and till such time not to interfere with the running of the petitioner's tea stall at Door No.18, Rajalakshmi Nagar, 7th Cross Street, front side of Raymond showroom, near Excellent Hospital, 100 feet road corner, Velacherry, Chennai 600042. 2.Petitioner sought for permission from the respondent Corporation and also certificate of vending to have the street vending business at Door No.18, Rajalakshmi Nagar, 7th Cross Street, front side of Raymond showroom, near Excellent Hospital, 100 feet road corner, Velacherry, Chennai 600042. 3.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents.

4.Admittedly, the place for which such a permission sought for by the 2/4

petitioner is a State Highways land. Therefore, as per the norms, such a street vending permission cannot be granted by the local authorities. Therefore, the plea raised in this writ petition cannot be granted, hence, the writ petition is liable to be dismissed and accordingly, it is dismissed. However, it is open to the petitioner to identity any vending zone area and to make an application in the prescribed format to the respondent Corporation/Town Vending Committee and in that case, the same can be considered by the respondent Corporation in accordance with law and decide the same on merits at the earliest.
