Respondent Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay 10% interest towards belated settlement of terminal benefits such as Provident Fund, Gratuity, Leave Salary and commutation of pension amount to the petitioners.

ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction to pay interest at 10% per annum towards the belated settlement of terminal benefits like Provident Fund, Gratuity, Leave Salary and commutation of pension amount, to the petitioners. 2.In the affidavit filed in support of the writ petitioner, it had been contended that the petitioners were all employed under the respondents as Selection Grade Drivers, Conductors and Checking Inspectors and had
retired from service during the year 2023. It had also been contended that the retirement benefits were paid only on 01.11.2024, nearly 19 months after the date of retirement. For that 19 months delay, the petitioners seek interest at 10% per annum. In this connection, the 1st to 11th petitioners and 12 petitioner had given representation on 09.11.2024 and 13.11.2024 respectively.
3.A direction is issued to the respondents to examine the service records of each one of the petitioners and representations dated 09.11.2024 and 13.11.2024 and it would only be in the interest of the respondents that necessary interest component is paid immediately to the petitioners, as otherwise the liability would only increase. The respondents are also directed to pay 6% interest per annum to the petitioners and this would be effective from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursement. The entire procedure be completed within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
4.With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
