O R D E R

The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 4(1)(i) and 4(1)(a) of TNP in Crime No.297 of 2025 on the file of the respondent Police, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that on 22.09.2025 based on a secret information, the respondent police went to Kannankurichi, Govindan Street, they found that the accused persons were involved in illegal possession of 85 nos. of brandy bottles (180 ml each) for the purpose of illegal sales; that on seeing the police, one of the accused fled away from the spot and the respondent police arrested A1; that upon confession of the arrested accused/ A1, the petitioner has been implicated in this case.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner was falsely implicated in this case and he was not involved in the above said offence. He further submitted that the petitioner is ready to abide by any conditions that may be imposed by this Court, hence sought for anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondent police while opposing the anticipatory bail to the petitioner reiterated the prosecution case and submitted that the petitioner has 18 previous cases, out of which 15 cases are of similar nature; and that the investigation of this case is pending.

5. Considering the facts and circumstances of this case, the previous antecedents of the petitioner and taking note of the fact that the investigation of this case is pending, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.
