ORDER

This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025.

2. This case is registered for alleged offences under Sections 37, 51(b)(i), 63(a) of the Copyright Act, 1957 and Sections 8A and 15(3) of the Tamil Nadu Exhibition of Film of TV - VCR & Cable TV Regulation Act, 1984. The incident occurred on 28.06.2021. The allegation in this case is that the accused is said to have telecasted the programmes of a particular private channel. It is stated that inspite of best efforts, the de facto complainant could not be summoned to show progress in the case. For the said allegation, the case is pending from the year 2022. The accused is regularly attending the case. Any further continuation of the proceedings would impinge upon his right to a speedy trial. 3. Accordingly, the case in P.R.C.No.600001 of 2014 of Judicial Magistrate Court No.1, Mayiladuthurai, Mayiladuthurai Taluk, Mayiladuthurai, stands quashed. This Suo Motu Transfer Case is disposed of. 16.10.2025 grs electronically alone. The Trial Court shall take note of the order and accordingly classify the case pending before them as allowed / dismissed / disposed of, etc, and while doing so, consider any applications such as disposal of properties, etc., and pass appropriate orders, as may be necessary. Further, the Court below is directed to dispatch the copy of this order to all concerned.
