This criminal original petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent Police not to harass the petitioners under the guise of enquiry.

2. The case of the petitioners is that the respondent Police are harassing them in connection with an NDPS case relating to the deceased father of the 1st petitioner. It is their further case that the 1st petitioner is an engineering student and there was a case pending against his father, late Ramesh, who passed away on 13.07.2025.

3. It is the further case of the petitioners that the respondent, in the guise of enquiry, are unnecessarily harassing them. The 1st petitioner has also sent a representation to the Commissioner of Police, Avadi, Chennai, regarding the same.

When the matter is taken up for hearing today, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), appearing for the respondent would submit that there was a case pending against the father of the 1st petitioner and husband of the 2nd petitioner. He admits that the 1st petitioner's father, late Ramesh had passed away on 13.07.2025. However, he would submit that the 2nd petitioner has got a case registered against her in Crime No.610 of 2025, for offences under Sections 132 and 351 (ii) BNS read with Section 24 (i) COTPA Act, by T - 6, Avadi Police Station, Chennai.

5. He would further submit that as far as the 1st petitioner is concerned, there is no case pending against him and the respondent Police are not harassing him. He would contend that other than calling the 2nd petitioner for an enquiry, the respondent have not done anything to harass him.

6. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the records.

7. Recording the submission of the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), this criminal original petition stands closed. It is made clear that since there is no case pending against the 1st petitioner, he shall not be harassed.
