ORDER

The petitioner is a trade union. It stated that for the period 2024 - 2025, the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu, had allotted a sum of Rs. 6,29,000/-, for rejuvenation of a tank situated at Thottacherry Thangal in Chunambedu Panchayat, Chithamur Block, Chengalpattu District.

The petitioner stated that without completion of the work, payment is sought to be released to the contractor. Being surprised at this development, the petitioner gave a representation on 29.07.2025. Since no appropriate action has been initiated by the respondents, the petitioner has approached this Court by way of the present writ petition.

Taking note of the seriousness of the allegations, I directed Mr.Hazan Faizal to take notice for respondent Nos. 1 to 3 and 5 and Mr.P.Anandakumar to take notice for the fourth respondent. I listed the matter today to enable them to report. 4.

When I called the matter, Mr.Anandakumar reports that the work allotted to the contractor is underway, and it is not yet completed. He further states that once the contractor reports the work is completed, an inspection will be conducted by the appropriate authority, and after being satisfied that the works have indeed been completed, only then the payment will be processed. To that effect, he has produced the instructions given by the authority. The same is scanned and extracted hereunder:- 3/11

Recording the same, this writ petition stands disposed. No costs.
