PRAYER: Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.09.2024 and to process the pending bills and make the balance payments to the petitioner without further delay within the time limit that may be fixed.

ORDER
Heard Mr. M.N.Kathir, learned counsel for Mr.M.Gnanasekar, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.A.Arshadkhan, learned counsel for Ms.S.Vanitha Joice Rani, learned Standing Counsel for the Corporation.
2. The petitioner had been benefited with the contract by the respondent for formation of maintenance way and Riverine Plantation of Cooum river. The area covered under the contract is from Rail Nagar Bridge
upto Thiruverkadu Municipality. Apart from formation of the maintenance way, the petitioner has also had to maintain the plantation so raised for a period of two years.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that he is duly executed the contract given to him. He had raised a bill of Rs.2,23,59,076.83. As the balance was not paid, he gave a representation on 10.09.2024 and came forwarded with the present Writ Petition.
4. When the Writ Petition came up for hearing on 30.10.2025, Mr. M.N.Kathir, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner reported that the balance amount will be paid within a period of 8 weeks. As the corporation has agreed to settle the same, I called the respondents to file an undertaking affidavit on behalf of the Corporation.
5. Today when the matter was called, the first respondent has filed the undertaking affidavit and the relevant portion in paragraph No.5 is extracted hereunder:-
"5. I hereby undertake on behalf of the Greater Chennai Corporation to process the pending bills of the writ petitioner after verifying the records and based on the completion certificate and the Greater Chennai Corporation make the balance payment to which the writ petitioner is legally entitled within 12 weeks."
6. Recording the undertaking in paragraph No.5, the Writ Petition stands disposed of granting 12 weeks time to the respondents to settle the dues of the writ petitioner.
