Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 21.07.2025 and 24.09.2025 and appoint the petitioner as Assistant Director of Drugs Control in Tiruppur Zone on the basis of inclusion in the panel issued vide G.O. D.No. 1193 dated 13.11.2024 before the expiry of the said panel on 13.11.2025.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner seeking promotion to the post of Assistant Director of Drugs Control in Tiruppur Zone, on the basis of his inclusion in the panel issued vide G.O.(D).No.1193, dated 13.11.2024, before the expiry of the said panel on 13.11.2025.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

3. The petitioner had joined the Tamil Nadu Drugs Control Department on 03.02.2010 as a Drugs Inspector in the Madurai Mobile Squad. Thereafter, he was transferred to Madurai III Range and subsequently, once again, transferred to Madurai Mobile Squad. Later, he was transferred to Uthamapalayam Range, Theni District and thereafter, transferred to Tiruppur Zone, South Range. While being so, in the month of December 2023, he was promoted as Senior Drugs 2/5

Inspector and posted in Coimbatore Zone.

As per G.O.(D).No.1193, dated 13.11.2024, a regular panel was constituted for promotion to the post of Assistant Director of Drugs Control for the year 2024-2025, in which the petitioner's name also figures. The said panel is valid upto 12.11.2025. However, the petitioner has not yet been considered for promotion to the post of Assistant Director of Drugs Control, which fell vacant on 01.07.2025 in the Tiruppur Zone and Vellore Zone. Subsequently, a proposal dated 05.08.2025 was submitted to the Government for promotion and posting to the post of Assistant Director of Drug Control, including the petitioner, whose name is found in Serial Nos.9 and 10 of the approved panel, which is valid upto 12.11.2025.

5. Considering the above, the first respondent is directed to consider the proposal submitted by the second respondent and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There 3/5

shall be no order as to costs.
