The Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the first respondent Police to de-freeze the petitioner's Bank Locker No.1003/2018 maintained in Bank Account No.918020027434336 at the second respondent Bank, which was frozen in connection with Crime No.907 of 2021 on the file of the first respondent Police. The case of the petitioner is that her husband was arrayed as an accused in Crime No.907 of 2021 registered on the file of the first respondent Police for the offences under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(C) and 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The said case was taken on file in C.C.No.99 of 2022 before the II Additional Special Court for exclusive trial of cases under NDPS Act, Chennai. During the course of investigation, the petitioner's bank account bearing Account No.

918020027434336 and the locker No.1003/2018 with the second respondent Bank were frozen on the request of the first respondent. Consequently, after the acquittal of the petitioner's husband on 25.03.2025, the petitioner requested the respondents to defreeze her account and locker.

The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), on instructions, submitted that subsequent to the acquittal of the petitioner's husband, the first respondent Police has addressed a communication dated 24.10.2025 to the second respondent Bank to defreeze the petitioner's account and permit her to operate the locker. 4.

Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.

Taking into consideration the facts that the petitioner's husband has been acquitted and that the first respondent Police has already addressed a communication dated 24.10.2025 to the second respondent, this Court directs the second respondent to defreeze the petitioner's account and permit her to operate locker No.1003/2018 in Account No.918020027434336, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid direction.
