ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking for a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the 1st respondent to complete the assessment of the Petitioner's claim under Policy No.71030011239600000004 dated 10.11.2023 and policy No.71320746232480000006 dated 21.09.2023 within a period of time fixed by this Court.
2. Since no adverse order is being passed against the respondents, notice to the respondents is dispensed with.
3. The case of the petitioner is that it is a reputable importer and distributor in the fastener industry. The petitioner's goods comprising 14 containers stored in the public bonder warehouse of 2nd respondent were covered by two comprehensive insurance policies issued by the 1st respondent viz., one for goods and another for customs duty. In the month of December, 2023, devasting floods in Chennai led to extensive damage Page No.2 of 4
to these goods. Immediately, the petitioner issued a notice of loss on 20.12.2023 and subsequently, submitted a formal claim on 05.01.2024 dated 03.01.2024 before the 1st respondent. Since the same was not considered by the 1st respondent, the petitioner has filed this writ petition before this Court for appropriate orders.

Though very many grounds have been raised in this writ petition, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that, it would suffice, if this Court issues a direction to the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's claim, dated 03.01.2024 and pass appropriate orders, within a time frame that may be fixed by this Court.
5. In view of the limited request sought for by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's claim dated 03.01.2024, on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner and aggrieved persons, if any.
