The petitioner, who is a senior citizen aged about 68 years, has filed the present Criminal Original Petition seeking a direction to the learned Judicial Magistrate No.I, Mettur, to dispose of the case pending 1/4

against him/A1 in C.C.No.208 of 2023, arising out of Crime No.385 of 2021 registered for the offences under Sections 294(b), 323 and 326 of IPC on the file of the respondent Police, within a stipulated time. 2.

When the matter was taken up for hearing today, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), on instructions, submitted that there are nine witnesses in this case and that the case now stands posted on 17.12.2025 for examination of LW1 to LW4.

Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.

Taking into consideration the facts of the case and the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), this Court directs the learned Judicial Magistrate No.I, Mettur, to dispose of the case in C.C.No.208 of 2023, as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of six months from the next hearing date, i.e., on 17.12.2025. The respondent Police shall ensure that the witnesses are produced without fail on the said date.

Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands allowed with the aforesaid direction.
