This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to deal with the appeal filed by the petitioners, who are trustees of the temple under Section 12 of Patta Pass Book Act, wherein the petitioners have sought restoration of patta in the name of the temple.

2. Heard Mr.M.Muruganantham, learned counsel for petitioners and Mr.S.Rajesh, learned Government Advocate appearing for respondent.

3.The case of the petitioners is that the patta originally stood in the name of the temple, however, subsequently, the revenue records were transferred in the name of the Government. Aggrieved by the same, the petitioner temple submitted an appeal before the respondent on 17.07.2017. The same was not considered and by virtue of G.O.(Ms) No.182, dated 10.04.2025, the petitioners were appointed as trustees of the temple. They wanted to prosecute the appeal pending before the respondent. It is under these circumstances, the present writ petition came to be filed before this Court.

4. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the 2/4

case and the materials placed before this Court and without going into the merits of the case, there shall be a direction to the respondent to deal with the appeal submitted by the petitioners on 17.07.2017 on its own merits and in accordance with law and pass orders within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording opportunity to all the interested parties.

This writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
