This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the 1st respondent to renew the petitioner's dated 10.11.2014.
2. Mr.s.Dilli Raj, learned Central Government Counsel takes notice on behalf of the 1st respondent and Mr.S.Balaji, learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) takes notice on behalf of the 2nd respondent.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that he had applied for renewal of passport before the 1st respondent on 18.12.2023 pursuant to which, show cause notice was issued to the petitioner dated 10.01.2024 seeking clarification with reference to the adverse police verification report received from the 2nd respondent as to the CC.No.2318 of 2023 pending on the file of the learned Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore for the offences under Section 294(b), 323, 506(i) IPC. Despite the oral explanation of the petitioner, the 1st respondent had issued communication dated 11.08.2025 directing the petitioner to appear before the 1st respondent along with necessary documents failing which would result in closure of the petitioner's application for renewal of passport. Aggrieved by 2/5
which, the petitioner has come up with the present Writ Petition.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that, mere pendency of charge sheet is not a bar for renewal of passport and therefore, this Court may issue a direction to the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's application for renewal of passport made on 18.12.2023 on merits within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.
5. On the above contention, this Court heard the learned counsel for the respondents who has no objection to the said order being passed.
6. In view of the limited relief sought for by the petitioner, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 18.12.2023 for renewal of passport in terms of the judgment of the Division Bench of this Court in W.A.No.902 of 2023 dated 02.06.2023 and pass appropriate orders within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of in the above terms. There shall be 3/5
no order as to costs.
