ORDER
This petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the second respondent herein to consider petitioner Application dated 14.09.2024 and consequently to accept the surrender of petitioner Indian passport in passport No S2813672 and issue surrender certificate within a stipulated time frame.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner, born an Indian citizen, subsequently acquired French nationality through her father, a French national, and accordingly she applied on 14.09.2024 before the second respondent to surrender her Indian Passport and obtain a Surrender Certificate, paying the requisite fee. Despite repeated representations, the Respondents have not acted on her application. The petitioner requires the Surrender Certificate to obtain a Stay Visa and OCI Card for lawful residence in India. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
3.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this Court may direct the second respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioners representation within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.
4. The learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 submitted that the representation will be considered and orders will be passed within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.
5. Heard the learned counsel for both side and perused the materials available on record.
6. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and in view of the limited request sought for by the petitioner, this court directs the second respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 14.09.2024 within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
7. With the above directions, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. 14-11-2025 Tsg
