O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to issue a proper residential permit/visa for petitioner stay in India based on petitioner representation dated 23.06.2025 within the time that may be stipulated by this court.

2. Ms.V.Sudha, learned Senior Central Government Counsel takes notice on behalf of the respondent.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that she was born to an Indian Origin Tamil family at Srilanka and they were granted Srilankan Citizenship. After their arrival to India, they got registered with the erstwhile Foreigners Registration Office, North Arcot, Vellore and they were also provided with an emergency certificate dated 28.02.1985. Thereafter, the petitioner got married to one Prasad, who is an Indian Citizen by birth and they were also issued with Passports including the petitioner. However, when the petitioner's family returned to India from Srilanka, their passport was seized by the official and directed to obtain necessary permissions from the respondent. Therefore, the petitioner had submitted a representation dated 23.06.2025 to the respondent seeking issuance of residential permit for the petitioner as well as her spouse. However, the same has not been considered so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition. 2/4

Though very many grounds have been raised, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that it would suffice, if this Court issues a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 23.06.2025 and pass orders on the same within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

5. Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that the petitioner's representation dated 23.06.2025 will be considered and appropriate orders will be passed.

In view of the limited relief sought for in this Writ Petition, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 23.06.2025 and pass appropriate orders on the same in accordance with law within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested parties.

7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid direction. There shall be no order as to costs.
