O RDER This Writ Petition has been filed challenging the order of suspension passed by the second respondent 11.01.2024, on the ground of prolonged suspension.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.

3. The petitioner had joined the Corporation of Madras as a Basic Worker. Thereafter, he was promoted to the posts of Typist, Assistant, License Inspector and subsequently as Tax Assessor. While being so, the petitioner committed irregularities and became involved in a Vigilance and Anti Corruption case. An FIR was registered against the petitioner in Crime No.01/AC/2024/CC-IV under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. A trap was set up, pursuant to which the petitioner was caught red-handed, arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Therefore, the petitioner was suspended from service.

4. The learned Senior Counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner was not served with any charge memo and the investigation is still

pending. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation to revoke the order of suspension and it is pending on the file of the second respondent.

5. In view of the above, the second respondent is directed to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner seeking revocation of suspension and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, in the light of G.O.Ms.No.81, Human Resources Management (N) Department dated 04.08.2022, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
