Respondent(s) PRAYER This Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking for a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 3 to make necessary changes in the name of Aadhaar of the petitioner's minor child from M. Pragathan to M. Prajan and consequently direct the 4th respondent to make necessary entries in School Records of Minor M. PRAJAN ( formerly M. PRAGATHAN) based on the representation of the petitioner dated 15.10.2025 For Petitioner(s):

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents 1 to 3 to make necessary changes in the name of Aadhaar of the petitioner's minor child from M.Pragathan to M.Prajan and consequently direct the 4th respondent to make necessary entries in School Records of Minor M.Prajan (formerly M. Pragathan) based on the representation of the petitioner dated 15.10.2025.

2.The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner had changed his elder son's name from M.Pragathan to M.Prajan as per numerology and the same was published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette on 07.09.2016. The petitioner thereafter approached the third respondent to make necessary correction in the name of his child in the Aadhaar Card with original documents such as Aadhaar Card, Birth Certificate, Gazette Notification and Community Certificate. However, the third respondent insisted on production of Nativity Certificate for name change in the Aadhar Card of the petitioner's son. 3.Thereafter, the petitioner approached the Revenue Authorities seeking Nativity Certificate, but, they denied to issue the same in the old name of the petitioner's son, since the name got changed. The petitioner thereafter sent an e-mail on 26.07.2025 to the respondents informing about the inability of the petitioner in producing the nativity certificate and a reply, too was given to the petitioner that the respondents would look into

the matter. Thereafter, the petitioner has sent a representation dated 15.10.2025 to the respondents 1 to 3 to change the name of the petitioner's son in the Aadhar card, which has not been considered by the respondents till date. Hence, the present Writ Petition.

4.The learned counsel for the respondents 1 and 2 would submit that the representation of the petitioner would be considered by the respondents within a time fixed by this Court and accordingly, prays for appropriate orders.

5.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned counsel for the respondents 1 and 2 and perused the materials available on record.

6.In view of the facts and circumstances of the case, the respondents 1 to 3 are now directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 15.10.2025 and pass appropriate orders, within a period of six (6)

weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner.
