ORDER
The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submitted that the name of the river has been wrongly mentioned as "Marutheri Lake" instead of "Karnur Chinnappa Reddy @ Kodigai Lake" in the prayer of this writ petition. Recording the said submission, the prayer of this writ petition is amended to the following effect and the Registry is directed to carry out the necessary amendment in the cause title :- "In such circumstances it is prayed that this Hon'ble Court may be pleased to issue a Writ of Mandamus or order or direction in the nature of a writ directing the respondents to consider and pass orders on the representation of the petitioners dated 18.07.2025 and to get lease of the fishing rights in the Karnur Chinnappa Reddy @ Kodigai Lake under the control of the 1st respondent in favour of the 3rd respondent society for a period of 5 years from 2025 - 26 to 2029 - 30 by applying G.O.Ms.No.332, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (FS.IV) Department dated 17.11.1993 and the orders passed in batch of Page No.2 of 7
writ petitions in W.P.No.6819 of 2023 etc., dated 21.06.2023 and pass such further or other orders and thus render justice."

This Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioners seeking a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to consider and pass orders on the representation of the petitioners dated 18.07.2025 and to get lease of the fishing rights in the Karnur Chinnappa Reddy @ Kodigai Lake under the control of the 1st respondent in favour of the 3rd respondent society for a period of 5 years from 2025 - 26 to 2029 - 30 by applying G.O.Ms.No.332, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (FS.IV) Department dated 17.11.1993 and the orders passed in batch of writ petitions in W.P.No.6819 of 2023 etc., dated 21.06.2023.
3. Mrs.S.Anitha, learned Special Government Pleader, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. In view of the consent expressed by the parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.
4. The case of the petitioners is that they are the members of the 3rd respondent society and except fishing there is no other occupation for its members. The Karnur Chinnappa Reddy @ Kodigai Lake is under the control of the 1st respondent. As per G.O.Ms.No.332, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Page No.3 of 7
(FS.IV) Department dated 17.11.1993, priority should be given to the cooperative societies. As on date, the above tank is not leased out to any of the co-operative societies or to any individual. Therefore, they have made a representation to the respondents on 18.07.2025 requesting them to allot the fishing rights in the above lake to the 3rd respondent society for a period of 5 years i.e., from 2025 - 26 to 2029 - 30 by applying the above said G.O. and also the order passed by this Court in batch of writ petitions in W.P.No.6819 of 2023 etc., dated 21.06.2023. Since the same was not considered by the respondents, the petitioners have filed this writ petition before this Court.

Though very many grounds have been raised in this writ petition, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that, it would suffice, if this Court issues a direction to the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioners' representation dated 18.07.2025, and pass appropriate orders, within a time frame that may be fixed by this Court.

In view of the limited request sought for by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioners' representation dated 18.07.2025, on merits and in accordance with law, and Page No.4 of 7
pass appropriate orders, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioners and the aggrieved persons, if any.
7. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
