The petitioner seeks for a direction to issue license to run a bunk shop at 100 feet road, Taramani, Chennai.

2. Ms.Vidya Sri appearing for Mrs.P.T.Rama Devi learned Standing Counsel for the respondent Corporation reports that the 100 feet road at Taramani is not a vending area in terms of the Act.

3. When that being the position, the petitioner cannot be granted a license to install a bunk shop in a non-vending area. A writ of mandamus cannot be issued against the Statute.

4. Hence, the writ petition is dismissed. It is open to the petitioner to make out an appropriate application to install a shop in a vending area. No costs.
