O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed to direct the third and fourth respondents to pay compensation and interest for the lands acquired for the Madhavaram Lake Surplus water Drainage Canal Scheme situated at Survey No.46/3 measuring an extent of 1800 Sq.Ft., of land bearing Plot No.26M, at Sri Lakshmi Amman Nagar, Old No.64, New No.57, comprised in Survey No.46/3 at Puthagaram Village, Ambattur Taluk, Thiruvallur District.

2. Mr.M.R.Gokul Krishnan, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondents. By consent of both the parties, this writ petition is taken up for final hearing at the stage of admission itself.

The case of the petitioners is that the one Mr.P.Jayaraman has purchased a land measuring an extent of 1800 sq.ft., bearing Plot No.26M at Srilakshmi Amman Nagar, Old No.64, New No.57, comprised in Survey No.46/3 situated at Puthagaram Village, Ambattur Taluk, Thiruvallur District, who is none other than husband of first petitioner and father of petitioners 2 to 4. After his demise, the petitioners become the joint and absolute owners of the above said lands. Under these circumstances, the said lands were acquired for Madhavaram Lake Surplus Water Drainage Canal scheme and no compensation was paid to the petitioners. Therefore, they made a representation dated 23.08.2024 before the respondents, seeking compensation, however, the said representation was not considered, as on date. Hence, the petitioners have come forward with the present writ petition.

4. Though many grounds have been raised in this writ petition, learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that it would suffice if this Court issues direction to the respondents 3 & 4 to consider the petitioners' representation dated 23.08.2024.

5. Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that the petitioners' representation dated 23.08.2024 would be considered and appropriate orders passed within a time frame that may be fixed by this Court.

6. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.

7. In view of the limited relief sought by the learned counsel for the petitioners, this Court without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondents 3 & 4 to consider the petitioners' representation dated 23.08.2024 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

With the aforesaid direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
