Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to immediately inspect the entire stretch of the newly constructed stormwater drain in 4th Main Road, Ayapakkam, Avadi Taluk, Thiruvallur District, and reconstruct the same strictly in conformity with the Secretary's Letter No.6112/2/2018-1 dated 16.03.2018, the Chief Secretary's Letter No.5916/HN2/2021-1 dated 12.05.2021, and other statutory standards, ensuring that the level of the drain is maintained below the adjoining road and residential areas on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 19.10.2025. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) The claim made by the petitioners, is based on their own measurements, etc., which does not impress us. However, considering that certain representations have been made to respondent No.5, the authority shall examine the same and if necessary, act in coordination with the agency engaged in construction, to ensure that the constructions are made strictly in accordance with the norms laid down and not in violation thereof.

Petition is, accordingly, disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. W.M.P.No.51113 of 2025 filed by the petitioners to permit them to join and file a single writ petition is allowed, subject to payment of separate court fee. Consequently, the other interim application stands closed.
