Prayer : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents (1 to 3) to consider the petitioner's representation dated 17.02.2025 and inspect the construction of 300-meter-long rainwater canal on the main road between Vengaivasal Panchayat and Santoshpuram Vengaivasal Road in Chengalpattu Hill Panchayat District and take necessary action against the Respondent 4 to 7 within the time stipulated by this Hon'ble court.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) Through this public interest litigation, prayer has been made to issue mandamus to the authorities to examine petitioner's representation and make proper construction of the existing canal.

2. According to petitioner, the existing canal is not properly

developed and during rains, there is regular flow of rain water into the canal resulting in inundation of the nearby areas.

3. The issue which is sought to be raised in this petition is to be decided by the competent authorities and not by this Court. This Court cannot issue a direction as prayed for. Therefore, we are not inclined to entertain this petition and accordingly, this petition is dismissed. The dismissal will not come in the way of the authorities in taking decision in their own manner. There shall be no order as to costs.
