This writ petition has been filed for direction to the first 1/4

respondent to defer the disciplinary proceedings till the disposal of the criminal case in C.C.No.116 of 2014 on the file of the Special Court prevention of corruption act cases, Salem.

The petitioner while working as Sub Inspector of Police, was suspended from service on the allegation of receiving bribe and in pursuant to the registration of FIR on the file of the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Department, now on the basis of the criminal case, the petitioner has been served with charge memo dated 25.08.2025 under Rule 3(b) of Tamilnadu Police Subordinate Services (D&A) Rules, 1955. Now the criminal case is pending for trial. There are totally 37 witnesses, out of which 35 witnesses were already examined. The charge memo has also been served on the petitioner on the very same allegation and the same witnesses are to be examined by the disciplinary authority. 3.

In view of the above, the respondents are directed to defer the disciplinary proceedings against the petitioner for a period of three months from today to complete the criminal trial in C.C.No.116 of 2014. The Special Court prevention of corruption act cases, Salem is directed to complete the trial in CC.No.116 of 2014 within a period of three months 2/4

from today. The petitioner is also directed to cooperate with the trial. If the trial is not completed within a period of three months from today, the respondents are at liberty to proceed with the disciplinary proceedings. 4.

With the above directions, this writ petition is disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
