Respondents Prayer : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of Mandamus to protect the Siruseri Canal by directing the respondents herein to widen, renovate and rejuvenate the Siruseri Canal located in Thiruporur Taluk of Chengalpattu District and further direct the respondents to take all necessary measures to prevent illegal dumping of garbage and construction debris in and around Siruseri canal, thereby safeguarding the lives and properties of the residents during the monsoon season. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) The public interest litigation is completely vague and does not contain any specific detail.

2. The relief with regard to widening of canal cannot be issued by this Court, as, the width of the canal cannot be decided by the writ Court. The allegation of dumping of garbage and construction debris is also not supported with any material on record. The photographs do not show any garbage dumped.

3. In any case, if there is specific allegation in this regard, petitioner may approach the competent authorities giving specific details and thereafter, action, if warranted, may be taken by the authorities.
