O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the 1st respondent to issue passport to the petitioner by considering his explanation dated 18.09.2025.

2. Mr.G.Subramanian, learned Central Government Counsel takes notice on behalf of the 1st respondent and Mr.S.Balaji, learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) takes notice on behalf of the 2nd respondent.

It is the case of the petitioner that he had applied for issuance of passport before the 1st respondent on 19.06.2025 pursuant to which, a show cause notice was issued to the petitioner 02.07.2025 calling upon the petitioner to submit his explanation with reference to the adverse police verification report received from the 2nd respondent as to the Crime No.255 of 2022 pending on the file of R1Mambalam Police Station, Chennai. Despite receipt of his explanation dated 18.09.2025 to the show cause notice issued, no orders have been passed on the same by the 1st respondent till date. Hence, the petitioner has come up with the present Writ Petition.

4. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that, this Court may issue a direction to the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's explanation dated 18.09.2025 and pass appropriate orders on the same on merits within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

5. On the above contention, this Court heard the learned counsel for the respondents.

In view of the limited relief sought for by the petitioner, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the 1st respondent to consider the explanation dated 18.09.2025 of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders on the same on merits and in accordance with law in the light of the judgment passed by the Division Bench of this Court in W.A.No.902 of 2023 dated 02.06.2023 within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of in the above terms. There shall be no order as to costs.
