ORDER
This criminal original petition has been filed seeking to direct the respondent to expedite the investigation in Cr.No.198 of 2025 dated 13.09.2025 pending on the file of the respondent police.
2. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Public Prosecutor (Puducherry) appearing for the respondent police submitted that it is a case relating to man-missing and it is the claim of the petitioner that her husband viz., Perumal, aged about 57 years, was working as an operator in a rice mill and on 11.09.2025, after finishing his work, the petitioner's husband did not return home and after enquiry, she came to know that her 2/7
husband went into a park and he did not come back. Learned Public Prosecutor further submitted that the complaint was made only on 13.09.2025 and immediately thereafter, a special team has been formed and investigation is going on and the time period within which investigation can be completed cannot be guessed now.
3. As rightly pointed out by the learned Public Prosecutor (Puducherry) appearing for the respondent police, since it is a case of manmissing, the respondent/law enforcing agency cannot be forced to complete the investigation in a hurried manner. However, considering the intensity/ gravity of the case, this Court directs the respondent to continue the investigation with all due diligence and earnest efforts and endeavour to complete the same as expeditiously as possible.
4. Further, the jurisdictional Superintendent of Police (West), 3/7
Puducherry shall monitor the investigation conducted by the respondent in this case.
5. With the above directions, this criminal original petition stands disposed of.
