ORDER

This petition has been filed seeking a direction to the Respondents 1 to 3 to make appropriate corrections in the entry of death of the petitioner wife made in the register of Deaths vide registration number D-2024-33-16603-004290, under the column name of the father of the deceased as Parthasarathy as per the letter issued by the 4th respondent vide Ref No. 44/ MRD / 2025 dated 12.02.2025 to amend the Death certificate of the petitioner wife within the time stipulated by this Hon'ble Court.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner's wife Leelavathy, passed away on 07.12.2024 at Government Stanley Medical College Hospital, Chennai. Her death was registered and death certificate was issued vide dated 26.12.2024. However, in the death certificate wrongly recorded her father's name as Basathi instead of Parthasarathy. Therefore, the petitioner has made a representation for correction in the death certificate. The 4th respondent also made recommendation to the third respondent for correction and the same is not considered. Hence, the present writ petition.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this Court may direct the 3rd respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioners representation within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.

4. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents submitted that the representation will be considered and orders will be passed within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.

5. Heard the learned counsel for both side and perused the materials available on record.

6. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and in view of the limited request sought for by the petitioner, this court directs the third respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation and to correct the death certificate within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
