ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to pay death benefits of the petitioner's husband, Viswanathan and to consider petitioner representation dated 30.06.2025 and 20.08.2025 within stipulated time as fixed by this Honourable Court.

2. By consent of the learned counsel appearing for the parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner's husband was appointed as Overhead Tank Operator in the 4 th respondent Panchayat and while he was in service for 30 years, died in harness

on 24.04.2014. However, his terminal benefits was settled. It is stated that though the 3 rd respondent passed order for payment of Rs.22,080/- towards arrears and Rs.49,060/- towards adhoc payment, no amount was paid to the petitioner till date. Regarding the same, the petitioner sent representations dated 30.06.2025 and 20.08.2025 to the 4 th respondent. However, the 4 th respondent did not taken any steps thereby, the present writ petition is filed.

4. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that already a sum of Rs.41,520/- was paid to the petitioner by the Village President however, balance amount, if any not settled, will be settled to the petitioner within a stipulated time.

5. In view of the above, there will be a direction to the respondent concerned to settle the balance amount, if any not settled, with 6% interest per annum within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. This Writ Petition is disposed of with the above terms. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 05-12-2025 kkn Index:Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Internet:Yes
