PRAYER: Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of mandamus directing the 1st to 5th respondents to ensure that the 6th Respondent limit the number of dogs held by her as permitted by this Honble Court in W.P. ORDER

Today, when the matter was taken up for hearing, a status report has been submitted on behalf of the Greater Chennai Corporation by the Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, in which, it is stated as follows: "6. I respectfully submit that during the inspection, the premises of the sixth respondent and the surrounding area were verified and no dogs were found at the premises at the time of inspection.

7. I respectfully submit that two cages/kennels which were earlier placed on the street outside the premises were removed by the Corporation officials in compliance with the directions of this Hon'ble Court.

8. I respectfully submit that the said cages have been taken into custody and are presently kept at the Kannammapet Animal Birth Control (ABC) Centre of the Greater Chennai Corporation."

The Inspector of Police, J7, Velachery Police Station, Chennai, has also submitted his report, wherein, in paragraphs 7 and 8, he has stated that the order of this Court dated 02.02.2026, directing the police to provide adequate police protection to the officials of the Corporation of Chennai, has been followed to the tee.

Recording the same, this writ petition stands closed. No costs. It is needless to state that if the sixth respondent is found to house any dogs in future, the same will be forthwith removed by the Corporation officials and as and when requests are made for police protection by the officials, the jurisdictional police shall ensure necessary protection to the Corporation officials.
