ORDER
The present writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents 2 and 3 to consider the petitioner's representation dated 01.09.2025 seeking restoration of the electricity service connection 09-245-240-550 and calculate the CC charges according to his earlier average consumption readings.
2. According to the petitioner, he and his wife alone are residing as tenants in Door No.11, F1, First Floor, City Sastha first street, Ram Nagar North Extension, Madipakkam, Chennai. From the date of commencement of tenancy, the average consumption charges were around Rs.3000/- to Rs.5000/-.
However, during the month of September 2024, the consumption charge was abnormally raised to Rs.39,203 and Extra Levy 2024 BPSC 2013, totally came to Rs.43,511/-. When the petitioner gave an online complaint, and requested the respondents to verify the meter and consumption details, they were asked to pay the consumption charges. Further, the respondents assured that if excess consumption has been charged, the amount already paid by the petitioner would be adjusted in the forthcoming months. But, no such adjustment was made.
3. Again, in the month of May 2025, the consumption reading showed 7,354 units and CC charges were fixed at Rs..80,258/-, which is also abnormal. Though the petitioner again lodged online complaints, the respondents disconnected the electricity service connection without issuing any notice. The petitioner submitted a written representation dated 01.09.2025 seeking restoration of electricity service connection, but, no action has been taken so far. Hence, the present petition has been filed.
4. Heard both sides and perused the materials available on records
carefully.
5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and also considering the limited relief sought for by the petitioner to consider the representation, this Court directs Respondents 2 and 3 to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 01.09.2025 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed. of. There shall be no order as to costs.
