..Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of Writ of Mandamus (i) to direct the 2nd respondent/District Registrar(Administration), Nagapattinam, to conduct a detailed enquiry under Sections 68(2) and 83 of the Registration Act, 1908, into the fraudulent registration of the petitioner's land comprised in survey Nos.63/4B and 63/5B1A, Velankanni village, Kilvelur Taluk, Nagapattinam registered as Doc.No.2212/2025 based on the representation sent by the
petitioner dated 13.11.2025; (ii) subsequently, direct the 2nd respondent/District Registrar (Administration), Nagpattinam, to initiate disciplinary and penal action against the erring officials under Section 82 of the Registration Act, 1908.

ORDER
The petitioner relies on registered WILL dated 29.11.2023 bearing document no.85/2023. According to the petitioner, immovable properties were bequeathed in favour of the petitioner and her younger son, Saravanan. On the ground that the petitioner's elder son, Dhanabal, who is employed as a Public Relations Officer in the District Collectorate, Nagapattinam, used undue influence to register settlement deed dated 20.08.2025 bearing document no.2212/2025, the petitioner submitted representation dated 13.11.2025 to the first and second respondents. The petitioner seeks a direction for an enquiry in relation thereto.
2. Mr.U.Baranidharan, learned Special Government Pleader, accepts notice for all the respondents. After pointing out that O.S.No.19 of 2025 is pending before the Principal District Court, Nagapattinam, he submits that the mere pendency of the suit is not a reason to refuse to register the settlement
deed. Therefore, he submits that no case is made out to issue a direction as requested for by the petitioner. He also points out that the registration is in respect of 1/5th undivided interest in the relevant survey numbers.
3. The respondents herein do not have the power to cancel the settlement deed. A partition suit is pending before the Principal District Court, Nagapattinam. Therefore, it is open to the petitioner to seek orders restraining the execution of further conveyance pursuant to the settlement deed in the pending civil suit or to file an independent suit for the cancellation of the settlement deed.
4. With the above observations, the writ petition is disposed of without any order as to costs.
