ORDER

This writ petition has been filed to direct the respondents to pay interest at 10% per annum for the belated payment of Gratuity, PF, leave salary and Commutation of pension amount to the petitioners.

It is the case of the learned counsel for the petitioners that the petitioners 1, 3, 4 and the 2nd petitioner (now deceased) joined the services of respondent Corporation as Conductors and Drivers and after 24 to 35 years of continuous service, the petitioners retired from service on 31.05.2023, 31.01.2024, 30.11.2023 and 30.06.2023 respectively. It is further stated by the learned counsel for the petitioners that gratuity, PF, leave salary and commutation of pension were settled to the petitioners only on 10.03.2025, 25.08.2025, 25.08.2025 and 2/5

16.04.2025 respectively. Thereafter, the petitioners submitted representations to the respondents on 29.09.2025 and 07.10.2025 seeking payment of interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits, however, the same has not been considered till date. Hence, this writ petition.

3. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the limited request made by the petitioners with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest @ 6% for the belated payment of retirement benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of retirement benefits of the petitioners, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.

5. Accordingly, the Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
