ORDER

This writ petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking to forbear the respondents from disconnecting the electricity supply to petitioner's property comprised in Punjai Survey No.141, Valakanampudi Village, Pallipet District, Thiruvallur District, pursuant to the notice dated 25.11.2025 in Letter No.J.E. / O and M/ R.K. Pet/ V.Aa. / Ko.Pothu/ A.No.156/ 2025-26 on the basis of dispute in revenue records which is under challenge before DRO, Thiruvallur. 2.The case of the petitioner is that in the year 2006, the petitioner purchased the subject property and ever since from the purchase, she is in possession of the property and the patta also issued in her favour. However, on the basis of the representation given by some third parties stating that the subject property belongs to the Arulmigu Varadharaja Swamy Koil, the patta issued in favour of the petitioner for the subject property was cancelled on 29.08.2025 by the Revenue Divisional Officer, Thiruvallur which was challenged before this Appellate Authority. While so, on the basis of the

cancellation of patta, the respondents are trying to disconnect the electricity service connection. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed. 3.Learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents would submit that since patta cancellation proceedings dated 29.08.2025 has been challenged before the Appellate Authority, at this stage the respondents not going to effect the dis-connection of electricity service connection of the subject property. 4.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents and perused the materials available on records.

5.Admittedly, the petitioner is in possession of the subject property and by virtue of the sale deed 03.04.2006, patta has been issued in favour of the petitioner. Thereafter, based on the complaint raised by some third party, patta has been cancelled. The cancellation of patta cannot be a ground for disconnecting the electricity service connection. Even if the petitioner loses her right over the subject property, the electricity connection will goes to the person who is entitled to the subject property. Therefore, the respondents shall not disconnect the electricity service connection merely on the ground of patta cancellation.

6.With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 15-12-2025 rst Index:Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Internet:Yes
