Prayer:- Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to shift the existing Electric Pole in the land comprised in Survey No.9/7 of Ezhay Village, Tindivanam Taluk, Viluppuram District 10 feet away from the Petitioner's house without insisting any shifting charges from the Petitioner.

This writ petition has been filed for the following relief:- "to direct the respondents to shift the existing Electric Pole in the land comprised in Survey No.9/7 of Ezhay Village, Tindivanam Taluk, Viluppuram District 10 feet away from the Petitioner's house without insisting any shifting charges from the Petitioner."

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the records.

3. Today, when the matter came up for hearing, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the electricity pole which the petitioner seeks to have shifted is not the pole from which electricity is supplied to his residence. Therefore, there is no necessity for the petitioner to pay any charges. He further submitted that the petitioner's request is only for the shifting of the electricity pole and not for the supply of electricity. 2/4

4. In view of the above submissions, the Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the Electricity Department to remove the pole in question as expeditiously as possible.
