Respondent Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to pay the petitioner interest at the rate of 6% per annum, for the period of delay from 01.06.19 to 24.01.21 in paying the amounts paid towards the terminal benefits namely EPF Employee's Contribution, Gratuity and Encashment of Leave of her deceased husband / retired employee (Late) D. Devendran, Staff No.90CR2J06068, within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court, and without affecting the right to claim balance amounts towards those benefits. For petitioner : Mr. V. ORDER
Mr.M. Murali Vinoth, learned counsel takes notice for respondent. With the consent of both the parties, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal today at the stage of admission itself.

This writ petition has been filed to direct the respondent to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum, for the period of delay from 01.06.2019 to 24.01.2021 in paying the amounts towards the terminal benefits namely EPF Employee's Contribution, Gratuity and Encashment of Leave of her deceased husband / retired employee (Late) D. Devendran, Staff No.90CR2J06068, within a time frame, and without affecting the right to claim balance amounts towards those benefits.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that her husband D. Devendran joined the services of the respondent Corporation in the year 1990 and retired from service on superannuation on 31.05.2019. It is the contention of the petitioner that the terminal benefits of the deceased i.e.,petitioner's husband were settled to her, belatedly after several months. Hence, she submitted a representation dated 27.10.2025 to the respondent seeking payment of interest for the delayed payment of the benefits. Hence, this writ petition.
4. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the limited request made by the petitioner with regard to interest on the belated payment of terminal benefits of petitioner's husband, this Court directs the respondent to pay interest @ 6% for the belated payment of terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of terminal benefits of the petitioner's husband, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
