Habeas Corpus Petition filed under Section 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Habeas Corpus calling for the records in Detention Order C.M.P.No.02/GOONDA/2025/M1 dated 15.01.2025 on the file of the second respondent and set aside the same and direct the respondents herein to produce the petitioner/detenu Mansingh Kakrai, S/o.Gurpa Kakrai, aged 21 years, now confined in the Central Prison at Salem, before this Court and set him at liberty.

ORDER
(made by P.VELMURUGAN, J.) When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents would submit that the detention period itself is over and therefore, the relief sought in this petition has become infructuous.

It is seen from the records that the detention order was passed on 15.01.2025 and it is apparent that under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act, 1982 (Act 14 of 1982), the maximum detention period is twelve months from the date of detention and therefore, the detention period itself is over.
Hence, this habeas corpus petition is dismissed as infructuous. (P.V., J.)
