Habeas Corpus Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of habeas corpus and to call for the records in detention order in C.M.P.No.03/GOONDA/2025/M1 dated 15.01.2025 on the file of the second respondent and to set aside the same and direct the respondents herein to produce the petitioner/detenu Rajan Lakuri, S/o.Sergaya Lakuri, aged 23 years, now confined in the Central Prison at Salem, before this Court and set him at liberty.

It is submitted by the learned counsel appearing for the appellant that the detention order was passed on 15.01.2025 and now, the period of detention period itself is over, however, the detenu has not yet been released. Since the detention period itself is over, this habeas corpus petition is dismissed as infructuous. The Registry is directed to refer the matter to the Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority to appoint a competent panel counsel for approaching the detenu and do the needful. (P.V.,J.)
