J U D G M E N T

(Judgment of the Court was delivered by R.SURESH KUMAR, J.) This intra-Court appeal has been directed against the order dated 25.11.2025 made in W.P.No.25594 of 2025.

2. It was a tangle between the family members, i.e., father, daughter, son and daughter-in-law. The issue relates to the cancellation of the settlement deed under Section 23 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. As against which, when the appellants filed the said writ petition which was partly allowed by the writ Court. Aggrieved over the same, though this intra-Court appeal has been directed at the instance of the appellants, who are the writ petitioners, at the admission stage, based on the request made by the learned Senior Counsel appearing for the appellants, we, by our order dated 17.12.2025 referred the matter to the Tamil Nadu Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached with this Court to explore the possibilities of settling the matter amicably between the parties.

Pursuant to the same, the mediation went on and the Mediation Centre has sent a report on 08.01.2026 stating that the mediation has been completed and it has been settled between the parties and a settlement agreement signed by the appellants as well as the respondents 4 & 5 has also been annexed by the Mediation Centre.

We have heard Mr.AR.L.Sundaresan, learned Senior Counsel appearing for the appellants and Mr.S.John J.Raja Singh, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 3 and Mr.S.N.Parthasarathy, learned counsel appearing for the fourth respondent and have gone through the settlement agreement reached between the parties which was signed by both sides as well as their respective counsel.

5. In view of the said settlement agreement entered into between the parties on 06.01.2026 at Mediation Centre, since an issue has been settled amicably between the parties, we are inclined to pass the following order in this appeal:

that the settlement agreement dated 06.01.2026, annexed along with the report of the Mediation Centre shall form part of this order.

6. Accordingly on the basis of the contents of the said settlement, this Writ Appeal is disposed of and thereby, the order passed by the writ Court is accordingly modified. However, there shall be no order as to costs. Connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
