ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to pay interest for the belated payment of 25 months in paying P.F, Surrender leave salary, Commuted Value of Pension and Gratuity to the petitioner at the rate of 12% per annum within a time frame as fixed by this Court. __________Page 1 of 4

2. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that he joined the service of the respondent Corporation on 24.08.1989 and retired on 31.07.2023 However, the retirement benefits such as P.F, Surrender leave salary, Commuted Value of Pension and Gratuity were paid to him on 25.08.2025 belatedly after 25 months without any interest. Therefore, the petitioner made a representation on 03.11.2025 claiming interest for the belated payment of P.F, Surrender leave salary, Commuted Value of Pension and Gratuity, which evoked no response so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition.

In view of the limited request made by the petitioner with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits as stated supra from the date of retirement to till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioner, if there is no other impediment in disbursing the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.

5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
