COMMON PRAYER : Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay the petitioner interest for the belated payment of 18, 11, 22 & 20 months respectively in paying P.F., Surrender Leave Salary, Commuted Value of Pension and Gratuity at the rate of 12% per annum, within a specified time as fixed by this Court. These Writ Petitions have been filed to direct the respondents to pay interest @ 12% for the belated payment of P.F., Surrender Leave Salary, Commuted Value of Pension and Gratuity to the petitioners.

2. It is the case of the petitioners that they joined the services of the first respondent Corporation on 26.08.1988 08.04.1997, 05.06.2000 & 01.08.1986 and had retired from services on 29.02.2024, 30.06.2022,

30.04.2023 & 31.12.2023 respectively. However, the P.F., Surrender Leave Salary, Commuted Value of Pension and Gratuity amount have been settled only on 25.08.2025, 23.05.2023, 25.02.2025 & 25.08.2025 respectively. Therefore, the petitioners claimed 12% interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits and they have also made representation on 22.11.2025, 11.11.2025, 03.11.2025 & 05.11.2025 respectively to pay interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits which has not been evoked any response so far. Hence, the petitioners are before this Court.

3. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petitions are taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.

4. In view of the limited request made by the petitioners with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of retirement benefits of the petitioners, within a period of six

weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.

5. Accordingly, these Writ Petitions are disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
