O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to pay interest of 12% to the petitioners for belated payment of Gratuity, Leave Salary, Provident Fund and commutation of pension amounts within a time frame to be stipulated by this Court.

2. W.M.P.No.55128 of 2025 has been filed by the petitioners seeking to permit the petitioners to join together to file singe Writ Petition is ordered on payment of single Court fee.

3. Mr.A.Vinothraj, learned Standing Counsel (MTC) takes notice on behalf of the 1st respondent. Mr.C.S.K.Sathish, learned counsel takes notice on behalf of the 2nd respondent.

4. It is the case of the petitioners that the petitioners, who had joined the services of the respondent Corporation, had retired from service during 20232024, however, their terminal benefits have been settled only after a period of 6 to 25 months from the date of retirement. Therefore, the petitioner claimed 12% 2/4

interest on the belated payment of terminal benefits and they have also made representations on various dates (i.e., 27.11.2025, 01.12.2025, 06.12.2025 & 08.12.2025) to pay interest for the belated payment of terminal benefits which did not evoke any response from the respondents so far. Hence, the petitioners are before this Court.

5. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the limited request made by the petitioners with regard to interest on the belated payment of terminal benefits, this Court directs the respondent to pay interest @ 6% for the belated payment of terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of terminal benefits of the petitioners, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.

7. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of with the aforesaid direction. There shall be no order as to costs. 04.12.2025 Index : Yes / No Speaking Order / Non-speaking order Nhs 3/4
