This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the learned District and Sessions Judge at Poonamallee to dispose of the appeal in C.A.No.169 of 2025 at the earliest.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is a Government servant. Though the petitioner has been convicted for the offence under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act by the learned Judicial Magistrate, [FTC] at Poonamallee, the appeal preferred against the judgment in C.A.No.169 of 2025 is pending before the II Additional District and Sessions Judge, Poonamallee. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner further submitted that the petitioner is ready to settle the issue with the respondent/complainant and the appeal stands posted to 26.02.2026. He would further submit that as the petitioner has proposed to go on voluntary retirement, he seeks a direction for early disposal of the appeal.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and perused the entire records.

4. Considering the submissions of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, the II Additional District and Sessions Judge, Poonamallee, is directed to dispose of the appeal in C.A.No.169 of 2025, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of two months from 26.02.2026.

5. With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
