ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking to direct the respondents 1 to 4 to consider the petitioner's representation dated 01.12.2025 as per G.O.Ms.No.150, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, dated 19.08.1998 and consequently, to direct the respondents 2 to 4 to pay all attendant service and monetary benefits on par with his juniors.

2. Mr.C.Selvaraj, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondents. In view of the consent expressed by the learned counsel on either side, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3. The case of the petitioner is that he was appointed as Sanitary Supervisor in the Town Panchayat Department in the year 1993 and has been

continuing in service without any promotion till date. While so, the first respondent vide G.O.Ms.No.150, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, dated 19.08.1998, reserved 20% of the vacancies in the posts of Bill Collector and Junior Assistant, meant for direct recruitment, for promotion to last grade employees. Since the petitioner is a last grade employee having 33 years of service and has not been promoted to the post of Bill Collector / Junior Assistant till date, he made representation dated 01.12.2025 to the fourth respondent, seeking promotion in terms of the above said Government Order. The fourth respondent replied merely stating that action has been taken. Since the petitioner's representation has not been taken into consideration, the petitioner has preferred the present Writ Petition has been filed.

4. Learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that it would suffice, if this Court issues a direction to the respondents 1 to 4 to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 01.12.2025 and pass appropriate orders on the same within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that pursuant to the petitioner's representation dated 01.12.2025, a request has been made to the District Collector to fix a date for conducting Selection Committee Meeting. He submitted that upon fixing appropriate date and time, the meeting will be convened and necessary orders will be passed on

the petitioner's representation.

In view of the above statement made by the learned Additional Government Advocate, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the second respondent to pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 01.12.2025, upon conclusion of the selection committee meeting. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of four (4) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested parties.

7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid direction. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
