Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, directing the respondents herein to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 12.01.2026, to convert the Service Connection No.0926467215 from Commercial Tariff (Tariff V) to Domestic Tariff (Tariff I-A) with effect from July 2025; to withdraw / cancel the erroneous electricity bill dated 30.11.2025 for a sum of Rs.57,936/-, issued under Commercial Tariff; to recalculate the electricity consumption charges under Domestic Tariff (T-A) and grant adjustment / refund of excess amount.

This writ petition is filed for the following relief: "To direct the respondents herein to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 12.01.2026, to convert the Service Connection No.0926467215 from Commercial Tariff (Tariff V) to Domestic Tariff (Tariff I-A) 2/6

with effect from July 2025; to withdraw / cancel the erroneous electricity bill dated 30.11.2025 for a sum of Rs.57,936/-, issued under Commercial Tariff; to recalculate the electricity consumption charges under Domestic Tariff (T-A) and grant adjustment / refund of excess amount."

2. The petitioner is the absolute owner of a residential premises at Madipakkam, Chennai, which was constructed in the month of July 2025 and is being used exclusively for residential purposes. After completion of construction, the petitioner applied for conversion of the earlier temporary service connection taken during the construction work to Domestic Tariff and also paid the prescribed charges for the same. However, the respondents failed to process the application despite repeated requests. Finally, the petitioner submitted a detailed representation on 12.01.2026 seeking to convert the service connection. Since there is no response, the petitioner is before this Court.

3. Considering the limited relief, the respondents are directed to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation within a period 3/6

of 4 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, on its own merits.

4. With the above direction, this writ petition is allowed. No costs.
