ORDER

The present writ petition is filed praying for a writ of Mandamus directing the 2nd Respondent to consider and dispose of petitioner's representation dated 04.11.2025.

Learned counsel for petitioners would submit that petitioners herein submitted a representation before the respondents on 04.11.2025 seeking correction of 1st petitioner's name in the Death Certificate of Late Thiru.S. Kottiswaran by correcting the wrongly entered name Kalaiselvi as K.Alamelu and issue a fresh corrected Death Certificate, however, the same has not been considered by the respondents till date. Aggrieved, petitioners have filed the present writ petition.

At the outset, learned counsel for respondents would submit that they would consider the above request keeping in view Section 15 of the Tamil Nadu Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 and Rule 11 of Tamil Nadu Registration of Birth and Death Rules, 2000, after issuing notice to the petitioner and any other interested parties. Agreed to by the learned counsel for petitioners.

In view of the same, taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the limited relief sought for in this Writ Petition, there shall be a direction to the respondents to consider petitioners' representation dated 04.11.2025 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, keeping in view Section 15 of the Tamil Nadu Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 and Rule 11 of Tamil Nadu Registration of Birth and Death Rules, 2000, after issuing notice and after affording reasonable opportunity of hearing to petitioners and any other interested persons within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of uploading of web copy without waiting for receipt of certified copy of the order. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any views with regard to the merits of the representation and it is open to the concerned respondent to consider the representation on its own merits and in accordance with law.

5. Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petitions stand dismissed. 23-06-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order MKA
