This writ petition is filed for the following relief: "To direct the respondent to change the petitioner's name (mother's name) as K.Parveen Begum instead of Umera in her children birth certificates based on her representation dated 28.11.2025 and consequently direct the respondents to issue a rectified birth certificate after changes are made in a register."

2. The petitioner would submit that her son named T.Mohammed Salman was born on 25.06.2011 in RSRM Hospital, Cemetery Road, Chennai-13 and her daughter named, T.Niha Fathima was born on 2/6

13.06.2014 in the same hospital, their birth was duly intimated to the Chennai Corporation and they obtained birth certificates.

3. The petitioner would further submit that in the birth certificates of her children her name has been entered as "Umera". The petitioner's case is that her legal name is K.Parveen Begum and all documents and records stands in this name and the name "Umera" is her nickname.

4. Therefore, the petitioner made a representation dated 28.11.2025 to the respondents along with related documents and expressed her willingness to furnish required documents and agreed to pay the necessary charges for the name change as per the Tamil Nadu Registration of Births and Death Rules, 2000. However, there is no response from the respondents. Therefore the petitioner has filed this writ petition.

5. Considering the fact that the petitioner's nickname has been wrongly entered in birth certificates of her children and the fact that her representation dated 28.11.2025 has not been considered till date, this 3/6

writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 28.11.2025, within a period of 1 month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
